The gang's all here!

Three cheers for the Jedi Knights!

Nothing better than pizza with your pals...

We're gonna miss these guys!

Celebrating a fantastic season!

Thanks to Tabatha for sending along these fun shots from the end-of-season party on November 10! We all enjoyed pizza, soft drinks and cake, and especially one last chance for the boys to be together. The players were also presented with some special awards. First, to symbolize the fun they had, they are now all the proud owners of Jedi-blue and white wristbands. Next, to acknowledge all that they learned during the season, they were awarded Jedi candy "light-sabers!" And finally, to remember their teammates and their great teamwork, they were each presented with two team photos. And of course, each boy received a well-deserved trophy!

Some Jedi Knights season statistics:
Total Goals Scored: 34 (what an offense!)
Total Goals Against Us: 4 (WOW! that's amazing!)
Highest goal-scorer: Alex with 18 (he scored in all but one game, and scored 3 goals or more 3 times!)
Final record: 8-0-2

What a great season, Jedi Knights! CONGRATULATIONS!! John and I had a blast coaching the team, and will miss everybody (parents, grandparents and dogs included!). :-)

Actually, it's not over yet. We'll see most everyone (but for Sean and Daniel--we'll miss you!) at the Thanksgiving Tournament.

Have a great Turkey Day and thanks for everything!

~cindy and john

p.s. We LOVE our card and bobble-head trophies, and will never forget the fun we had coaching this year.

Game 10: 7-0 over the Green Dragons

Go Daniel, Go!!

Tyler and Daniel chase the ball with Sami, Antonio and Sean backing them up.

Jedi Knights vs Green Dragons

This was the last game of the season….could we finish the season having fun and undefeated? It has been a fun time and our last game was in the last time slot of the day, after the early morning clouds had gone. We played very well and found ways to score 7 goals, even when we were also trying to pass the ball around lot. No-one likes losing 7-0 but when you have one of those games when it all goes right, what can you do. Tyler began the scoring with a goal from a very acute angle and both Alex and Sean scored hat-tricks. Everyone played well, no matter what position they were playing.

So, well done Jedi Knights. Congratulations on learning a lot, getting to know new friends, and playing well as a team and as individuals

~Coach John

P.S. Coach Cindy was soooo sorry to miss this game! We'll see everybody at the team party, this Thursday night at 6pm!

Our next to the last game was a fun one! It was a bit slow getting started, but once Tyler scored the first goal (using his laces, no less!), the team seemed to wake up. After that we kept possession for most of the game and put a lot of pressure on the Sharks. Once again our goalies were a bit bored, though I'm not complaining! We had a LOT of shots, as it turned out only two went in. The second was from Antonio, and man, you could tell how excited he was to score. I felt terrible putting him back on defense for the final quarter, as I could tell he was anxious for the chance to score another one! Even Jack, Cesar and Daniel, who often drift back into defensive-mode, all had chances to score during the game. And Sami and Sean continued to be strong factors on offense, creating a lot of chances. Sean also did a good job staying in position when he played fullback. Adrian was his usual reliable self--I love his calm confidence on the field. And poor Alex just couldn't buy a goal today, but did he ever try! Time and again he tried to put one away, but alas, it just wasn't his day. All in all it was a great team effort. The boys continue to improve their passing, they are staying a bit more spread out (well, sometimes!), and they are working HARD. It is really fun to see how they have progressed over the season. And it is sad to think that there is just one more game to go...

Thanks to Tim for another fine game reffing, to Valerie for the treats, and to Sylvia for sending photos. John will see you Saturday and I'll want a full report at the team party on the 10th!

Here comes Alex! (with support from Cesar, Sami, Tyler and Daniel)

Sami, Tyler, and Jack havin' fun.

The Jedi Knights played a great game this week--actually putting some passes together, keeping possession of the ball, and creating quite a few chances to score. It was sooo much fun to watch!!

I thought both Sean and Cesar played their best games yet. Tyler worked really hard up front--he seemed to always be in the action--and he also did a nice job staying back on defense for his quarter there. Adrian and Antonio were solid contributors (as always)--they are both able to play any position, and are particulary tough and smart defenders. Jack had fun playing outside fullback--that's his favorite position and he always does a nice job there. Daniel played well too, and did a particularly fine job in the goal. Alex and Sami were our goal scorers, and as usual put a lot of pressure on the Green Hornets in front of the net.

All in all, it was a tremendous team effort. It is fun to see the boys calling for the ball when they are open, and looking for their teammates to pass when they have the ball. I am so pleased to see the progress they are making. Thanks to all of the parents too for being so encouraging, and cheering them on--we know what a difference it makes!

Thanks to Edith for the snacks this week, and to Tim for reffing again. If anyone has more photos, please send them along, though as you've seen I took tons with my super-duper lens!

Practice this week on Thurs. Oct. 27 at 5:30pm (it will be our last one, due to daylight savings ending this weekend).
Game on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 11am, Field A vs. Team 9
